Cytonox Weekly Update 12/23/24: Hello all, and seasons greetings! It is I, Alex from Cytonox. Jack and I thought we'd start doing this each Monday as a quick way to update you all on what's happening channel/life-wise so uploads and general channel activity feel less nebulous. Here's what's up: What we've been up to (instead of making videos): Alex: You might have noticed that I myself have not done much of anything around here as of late. The most general summary I could give is that I just haven't been able to will myself to sit down and script for more than an hour, for some reason. I've lapsed into a bad habit of playing games and just not making videos on them. If you wanna know what games I've beat recently, that would be Silent Hill 2 Remake (which I beat long after Jack did, hence not featuring in those videos at all), Final Fantasy 4, Sonic X Shadow Generations, Metaphor Re:Fantazio, Astro Bot, Kirby's Return to Dreamland HD, and Sonic 2/CD/3&Knuckles on the origins collection. I am currently playing through a couple games, namely Wu Kong, Shadows of the Damned, Mario and Luigi Brothership, and Persona 2 Innocent Sin. Of these I am only recording Brothership. I also watched a bunch of movies as I often do and have been getting back into reading lately. I'm currently around page 750 of Infinite Jest, so I'm in the home stretch there (loving it BTW). I've also been a pretty busy guy career-wise, which is a long story but the upshot is I'm doing well and hangin' in there. I even won an award. Jack: He's working a winter job and regaining motivation for YT again, gearing up for a return to action. He's gonna be out of town for a little while however as one often is on a school holiday. He was practically solo-running the channel the past ~3 months so there's less to discuss regarding his whereabouts. What's coming up: The Mario RPG long video and Souls Lore videos are still top priority by virtue of being Patreon voted. I've decided that as far as my videos go, my secondary priorities will be Final Fantasy 16 (LOL) and Mega Man 5 (People seem to really want these back, and I do like making 'em). Jack's been playing through Resident Evil 0 and floating a lot of ideas about RE-related content, so that's floating around too. He finally beat 7 and 8, so those are on the table as joint rankings sometime as well. Finishing up the massive souls series ranking is a given. The most important ingredient to keeping up a YouTube channel is to make stuff that you actually want to make, which is I think partly why I shutdown around October or so. I love the souls series (who'd have guessed?), but I'm done covering every single game in that genre that comes out. There are simply too many to keep up with, and the sheer quantity has dulled my interest in the genre some. I'm horribly sick right now and lost my voice so I can't record lines, but I'm scripting away in the mean time. I also recently bought a high-level adaptor for my GameCube that allows it to play on an hdtv and not look horrible. Might be able to make some proper GameCube videos once thats in place, who knows... Anyways yeah winter break is on right now so life is good (discounting the sickness). We'll be back soon enough. Looking forward to it!

Heyo! As many of you may know, Black Myth Wu Kong has an insane amount of bosses (89). So far, pretty much all of them are genuinely good enough to deserve their own segment, with none of them feeling like pointless fodder in particular. The Yaoguai King Bosses are sort of like the Remembrance Bosses from Elden Ring, and could be safely classified as the "major" bosses by that metric. But they really did put good work into the lesser guys too. Worth noting is that I (Alex) do not particularly feel like talking about the same game for a super long time (enjoying it though I am), especially considering we've been making (almost) nothing but soulsborne videos for the last while. If you do want us to cover every boss, just remember that it will come at the cost of covering any other games for a while, so don't just blindly pick it. It's not a "Short bad video vs long good one" choice, it's (we hope) a "short good video vs a long good one" choice. It's a real dilemma, so we want your thoughts. If you guys really do want every boss thats totally fine too, we just don't want to do it that way and find out afterwards that nobody really cared. Would you rather we:

A) Cover every boss, but the video comes out wayyyyyy later
B) Only cover "Yaoguai King" bosses and get it out around now

Heyo, just letting you guys know that souls part 5 is postponed to next week due to finals season. Among other things, I (Alex) am about 70% through FF16's hard mode which I'm playing through in order to access the DLC to cover and wrap up our work on that. It's a sort of long game even if you rush so it won't be like, immanent, but I'm workin' on it. Have a good one

Elden Ring DLC on the 21st is pretty much perfect timing, since thats around when we'll (roughly) wrap up our full series ranking. When we cover the bosses of the DLC, we'll discuss where they'd fit into our big list as well so they don't get ignored on that front. The DLC looks awesome, so I'm sure that'll be fun. On a more short term level, we're uploading the NieR Automata video later today and the first part of our aforementioned full series ranking of soulsborne bosses on patreon. Stay posted!

Hey everyone, make sure to follow us on TikTok and stay active on our YouTube Shorts tab, expect a lot of short, fun content as we prepare to begin our long-form ranking series. As well, expect more variety in our content (game reviews, video essays, fun content) as we start to focus ranking videos solely on our series as well as new games, like Black Myth: Wukong when that eventually comes out.
